I loved this blog.
I love to click through the old links and looking at our life in China.
... Remembering the places we visited, the emotions we felt.
I wanted to keep blogging here, and hoped to capture our repatriation experience in the same space. But I had a hard time processing our repatriation process and writing about it in real time.
I turned to Facebook, but it seemed shallow by comparison. I could post pictures, but not really tell the story.
So I let the old blog lie fallow.
Until this hit me ...
It's time for a new space for our new time.
This "Old blog" will always be there as a reminder and tapestry of those sweet days in Asia ... An intact accounting of our life in China.
The "New Blog" will feature what we are up to now ... @ the Bungalow, in the Backyard and places Beyond.
Come check us out
And see what the repatriated Johnson's are
up to in the Midwest!

Love that you're taking your blog in the direction that your life is going. Thanks for keeping us up to date!
You did a great job of blogging after the return, and I look forward to the new incarnation of stories.
It is a hard thing to keep the stories up, and we found that daily life back in the states doesn't feel like it has the same power of stories in China - that uniqueness isn't there to gather the awe of readers back home. Somehow the desire to write about culture shock and what we noticed as return differences fades, so I hope that starting new gives you a reason to post on a regular basis - we are still working to get into a blogging return - and I know that although often not posted there are a lot of great stories about life here in the states.
That said, next time you are back up for a weekend in the Chicago Chinatown let us know and we can met up and swap stories of the far east and compare how much of the language we've lost...
