Be quite girls, give mommy some time on the computer to save our memories and share them with the web community, defeats the purpose, in my mind of sharing special moments anyway! So in the absence of posts in the last week, here is what we've been doing:
Birthdays, Birthdays and Birthdays!
Sean, Bea and I headed south to Suzhou last week where we visited the historic silk producing city of Suzhou which will soon be famous for its huge Singaporean run industrial park... enter CAT and thus our visit. As a threesome we toured the Humble Administrator's garden, one of the top ten to visit in China. It really was stunning.
Then when Sean went into the Suzhou office Thursday morning, Bea and I spent the morning at an old section of the city wall, touring more gardens, and took a canal boat ride, manually powered by a 58 year-old-woman who also crooned us some ancient Chinese song as she propelled us down the murky canal, with bright yellow forsythia spilling over the stone walls. We also bought it tickets to climb the twisty staircase of a centuries old Buddhist pagoda, but Bea promptly freaked out at the prospect of the nearly ladder-like stairs, so we quickly made our exist only moments after entering! She did however, thoroughly enjoy feeding enormously over-grown fish, and climbing all the rocks in the various gardens!
We returned Thursday night to birthday greetings in Chinese outside our front door (created by Millie and Eliza) a beautiful bouquet of flowers (which I failed to photograph @ their freshest state... a grouping of peach roses fragrant Easter lilies and a few stems of bamboo all generously doused with sparkling gold glitter) from Mr. Zhang. Ayi Lu Lu bought us a bottle of bubbly and we felt overwhelmed by all the special people in our life here.
